A free writing competition for Year 3 and 4 pupils in the UK to inspire brilliant writing and encourage them to grow up healthily. In Partnership with Booths supermarkets.

Booths bring you the best food and drink in 27 stores across North West England, Pobble is delighted to be working in partnership with Booths to educate young minds about eating healthy foods.

Pobble + BoothsWhat’s it all about?

In order to grow a healthy mind, it's important that children keep their bodies healthy too. Learning the importance of eating well and making healthy choices is key. This year, new legislation will be released to tackle childhood obesity meaning that promotions of products in fat, sugar and salt will be restricted. To coincide with these important changes, we've teamed up with our friends at Booths to inspire children to make healthier choices ... and inspire their writing in the process!

We're asking pupils across the UK to create a healthy eating poster with the winning entry having their poster printed and displayed across the Booths estate and also receiving some awesome prizes!

How does it work?

Your class can run a 'Growing Healthy Minds' lesson, using our free, ready made lesson resources. Then your class will select up to three of your pupils' posters to be entered into our competition. Winning work might be chosen because it is original, funny, inspiring or simply the best piece of work that pupils has ever produced.

Teachers then submit their chosen pieces by easily uploading them to the Pobble platform, turning your writers into published authors and celebrating their creativity with Pobble's Worldwide audience. A real purpose to write! The ultimate reward comes when, on top of that, they have the chance to win great prizes! Plus, because we love to celebrate all young writers, we'll also be entering every piece of writing uploaded to Pobble using the tag HealthyMinds into an extra price draw to win a hamper from Booths Supermarket.

Great prizes up for grabs!

Winning entries will be chosen by the lovely team at Booths. Entries are in with the chance of winning one of these great prizes:

  • One lucky winning pupil will have their Healthy eating poster printed and displayed across the Booths estate! Plus a book voucher, a hamper for their school and Pobble goodies.
  • Four runner up pupils will receive book vouchers.
  • We'll also be running a prize draw where every single entry published on Pobble will be in with a chance of winning too. A winer chosen at random will receive a Booths hamper for the winning pupil and a hamper for their school!

Teaching ideas 💡

To inspire your writers and save you time, we've created a writing lesson full of ideas, prompts and supporting resources so you can run your own 'Growing Healthy Minds' lesson and class writing competition. The lesson includes inspiring writing examples, images, a word bank, poster ideas and sentence openers as well as writing and discussion activities so your class can learn about making healthy choices and making good food swaps, before creating a healthy eating poster to encourage other people to make healthy food choices.
