What a year it has been! 2017 will go down in Pobble history as one of the most exciting. We’ve turned over 21,000 pupils in to published authors, who received nearly 115,000 comments on their work. We’ve also supported thousands of teachers with their teaching of writing.
And… we’ve had some incredible adventures along the way. Here are our top 10 highlights of 2017.
BETT Show 2017 – We kicked off 2017 with a visit to the biggest and best education technology show. We had a chance to meet an incredible number of teachers and school leaders. The feedback was overwhelming.
We’ll be back at BETT 2018 in January. This time we’ll be taking to the stage with the number one bestselling author-illustrator, Cressida Cowell and outstanding Headteacher Chris Dyson to discuss how to train your children to write (pun intended). You’ll also find us at Hub 3 in the BETT Futures zone.
Pobbling in Dubai – This year saw four trips to the Middle East, where we shared the power of Pobble with many schools. During one of our trips we were lucky enough to win one of the prestigious GESS Awards. Pobble was celebrated as the best paid-for ICT/App product and we were over the moon!
Pobble evolves – This year saw the Pobble platform get even bigger and better. We released Pobble Resources, to save teachers time when planning. Pobble assessment to make the moderation process simpler and added MIS integrations to the site to allow pupils and groups to be set up automatically. Have you given them a try yet?
Literacy through Sport – We believe that in every child lives a brilliant young author. Sometimes it just takes something special to bring out that potential. That’s why we came up with Literacy through Sport. In 2017, we’ve been lucky enough to work with clubs and organisations like Derby County Community Trust and Chelsea FC, home of the Premier League champions.
We are always improving our Literacy through Sport programme and are delighted to be launching our latest class project in 2018. If this is something you’d like to hear more about, get in touch!
EdtechXGlobal All Stars Award – In June, Pobble won The EdtechXGlobal All Stars Awards, beating amazing edtech ventures from America, China and Finland to be judged the world’s ‘most valuable classroom solution’! We’re RIDICULOUSLY proud to be recognised in this way by some incredibly high profile judges from around the world.
The Big Write 2017 – In July, we held our largest literacy lesson to date at Harrogate’s iconic Royal Hall. In partnership with Harrogate International Festivals and with guest author Ian Macmillan, we welcomed nearly 800 children from 25 primary schools. The pupils all took part in a giant writing session and it was ridiculously good fun! Question is, can we top it in 2018?
Pobble Presents – This year, we ran free CPD events around the country with a host of incredible guest speakers. Sharing literacy ideas alongside brilliantly inspiring educators such as Jaz Ampaw-Farr and Ros Wilson was an honour for us. We’ll be planning lots more Pobble Presents events throughout 2018. Follow us on Twitter for all the latest announcements.
Pobbling in China – In November, we took Pobble to China! Matt and Jon visited Beijing and Shanghai to share the Power of Pobble. They visited international schools, private schools and state schools and were excited about the reception to Pobble in all of them.
Keep your eyes peeled for comments from China on your children’s writing.
Team socials – Fun is a major part of life at Pobble. Even though we are not in the same room every day, it’s great to feel the energy when we are. It’s great to regroup and share stories of our Pobble adventures around the world. In 2017, lots of new people joined our team making it even more fun and exciting!
The Pobble Awards – Without a doubt, our top highlight of this year, (every year in fact) is sharing and celebrating the achievements of so many young authors and their teachers. For this reason we rounded off the year with The Pobble Awards. Our chance to congratulate our Pobble stars! Nominations flooded in and choosing the finalists was a tough job, but we eventually picked our winners. What a superb way to round off an incredible year!
