Summer holidays are fast approaching, how do you plan to relax and unwind? Use the time wisely. Before you know you’ll be back at school. Here are seven ways to use the time wisely to ensure you have a stress-free summer.

Prepare – Get organised for the new school year early on, prioritise what needs to be done now and what can wait till you get back. Do what needs to be done in the first few days, and then leave schoolwork for the rest of the holidays.

Reflect – Take time to reflect on your classroom practice. What worked, what didn’t? How will you revamp class procedures and lesson plans? Having a clear plan in mind can really help you feel calm and collected as you head into the new school year.

Switch off – Once you’re organised and prepared for the new term. Switch off. Put anything school related in a box (physically and mentally) and don’t think about it again until it’s back to school time.

Enjoy yourself – Do something you love that you don’t normally have time for or learn something new. A hobby can help you refocus on what matters and switch off from stressful thoughts.

Reconnect – During term time, it’s so easy to overlook people because you’re too busy. Take time to reconnect with friends and family over the holidays. It’s a great stress reliever.

Get healthy – It may sound obvious, but fresh air, exercise and eating well have a hugely positive effect on your mind as well as your body. Set some time aside to get out for a stroll and set your mind straight.

Read – Get yourself a good summer read and make time to chill and read it. If you need some book inspiration then check out some recommendations from the Pobble team.
